Editorial Standards

Last updated September 29, 2026. How we research, write, review, and correct the articles and guides on this site.

Our articles and guides are written to be useful on their own, whether or not a family ever works with us. This page explains how they're made, what they're based on, and what to do if you spot something we got wrong.

What Our Guides Are For

Our guides explain how admissions works: timelines, application plans, testing, financial aid, and the decisions families face along the way. They're general information, not advice about a specific student. Colleges and schools set their own policies and change them often, so always confirm deadlines and requirements with the institution itself.

How We Research

We start with primary sources: the published policies of colleges and schools, federal and state agencies such as Federal Student Aid, and professional organizations such as the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC). When a guide relies on specific facts, it lists its sources at the end so you can check them yourself. We don't publish figures we can't trace to a source.

How We Use AI

We use AI tools to help research and draft our articles and guides. Every piece is then fact-checked against published sources and edited before it's published. When a guide says "Reviewed by Dr. Sapneil S. Parikh," he has read and approved that guide.

This is separate from our work with students. In students' work, technology is used only for research, logistics, and organization, never to write a student's essays or voice for them. You can read more in our philosophy.

Independence

Passage Point Admissions is an independent admissions counseling firm. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the schools and colleges we write about, and no school or college pays to be included in our guides. Mentioning a school in a guide doesn't mean we work with it or have a relationship with it.

Where We Advise

We advise families in person across South Florida and offer virtual advising anywhere in the United States. Some of our guides cover other regions. Those guides are educational resources; they don't mean we have an office there.

Updates & Corrections

Admissions policies change every year. Each article shows the date it was published, and we review our guides regularly, especially those about specific schools and regions. If you find an error or something out of date, email contact@passagepointadmissions.com and we'll look into it and correct it promptly.
